After The Rains
I took this shot Sunday morning after a solid rain the previous night. I knew it was going to be mostly clear, but I just had to watch the sunrise, and take some photos. As I drove over Highway 17, I noticed low fog developing in Scotts Valley. It was the classic dew point fog that develops from all the moisture after a good rain. Instead of driving to the beach as planned, I decided to drive up to UCSC where I went to school many years ago. UCSC has some amazing views of the Monterey Bay, the Santa Cruz Mountains, and the town of Santa Cruz.
This is a shot looking directly over Pogonip, and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Ironically, Pogonip was a word used by the Native Americans in this area meaning "river fog". Pogonip was later a famous golf course, and polo resort which hosted many famous celebrities. In the 70's it was just a clubhouse, swimming pool, and a few tennis courts. I used to swim there on occasion as a kid.
Lots of good memories while shooting this scene!
Anyway, I decided to put on my 10 stopper and go for some long exposures for a portion of this shoot. This was one of my favorite photos from that morning.
